God-Fearing Grandmother

Some people might just see this picture as an old bowl.

To me, it represents something quite different.

It belonged to my Grandmother (my father’s mother).  I am not sure how I ended up with it, but it is one of my life’s treasures.  Even though it has developed a crack over the years, I still use it occasionally.  It reminds me of the incredible heritage with which I have been blessed.  Of the many who gave me so much, another that comes to mind is an Aunt, whose prayers I am convinced helped usher me into the Kingdom of God.

My grandmother personally experienced the covered wagon era, and lived to see a man land on the moon.  During that amazing life journey, she never lost her values.  Through her, and many others like her, I have been given much.  To me, she was an icon of faith in God.  Even though she had lots of grandchildren, as a kid I remember the birthday cards she sent me with a one dollar bill inside.  To her, a dollar meant something.  It did to me as well.  Times have changed.

My prayer is that the generations that follow will take from those of us who are now the “older generation”, the values that made us truly rich and successful… Faith, Family and Freedom.

A Scripture I hold personally very dear is 3 John 1:4,  “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”

God help me do my part to ensure this does not die with me..
