Pastor Banned From You Tube

A Christian Pastor shared today that he has been ‘shut down’ on You Tube.

Les Potts, who is a personal friend and long-time Pastor, made this announcement today:

“For all who are interested I have been shut down on YouTube. There has been no explanation given me, except that I have had repeated or severe violations of our Community Guidelines. “After review we determined that activity in your account violated our Community Guidelines, which prohibit spam, scams or commercially deceptive content.” Not for sure what this is about. I have asked for a review but have heard nothing back. So until I find and secure another platform to post videos (which I am working on today) you will not be able to view them at ckmweb.org. Thanks Les”

Within the last few days, I watched one of his inspirational videos.  You can’t watch it, because it is apparently part of his alleged “spam, scams or commercially deceptive content”.  Below is a copy of the title and introduction to the video I watched:

I can assure you that there was NOTHING…in this video that in any way fits the description the outlined above.  While this may not have been the particular or single video that You Tube objected to, it was clearly representative of the kind of content and presentation offered by Pastor Potts.

For the record, Les Potts was our personal family Pastor for 20 years or so.  He has always been and continues to be one of the most dedicated, effective, principled, honorable, hard working men of God I have ever known.  His life and service to God and fellow man speaks for itself.  His video ministry would in no way be offensive to anyone for any reason, save someone who would have a mission to silence the loving and gentle speaking of the Truth of the Gospel of Christ.  Period.

My prayer is that God will use this to multiply the impact and outreach of Pastor Potts.

Many people are standing with you, Pastor!

You Tube has now reversed it’s position, and re-instated the account for Pastor Potts. This is his statement on Facebook…
“First I want to thank all of you who prayed and the generous and kind words that were written concerning me. When I posted that YouTube had terminated my participation in YouTube and banned me for life it was not because of grief in my spirit or out of some sense of feeling slighted. Then allowed me to post for free and I appreciated the service to assist in getting the Word out. When I posted on Facebook it was simply for informational purposes so people would understand that until I had secured another form of hosting the videos I would be offline. I had already appealed to Facebook for a review of my account and had heard nothing. So me being technically challenged consulted a couple of friends. Both of whom told me yesterday to appeal my termination again. Which I did. Within minutes, I heard back from Facebook that they would review my case. Remember I had heard nothing from the first appeal. Now I don’t know whether it was a computer glitch, or what but at 1:15 am this morning here is the response I received from Facebook:

“We have re-reviewed your account and have concluded that it is not in violation of our Terms of Service. Therefore, we have unsuspended your account. This means your account is once again active and operational, and in good standing.”

Well, Praise God! For me, I am thankful that I had no animosity in my heart, nor felt slighted. I had some added stress and pressure to pursue other means to post videos and for a man in his 7th decade whose learning curve in technology reaches heights unknown that was a little unnerving. I secured a Vimeo account by noon Saturday. Since I am restored to YouTube for now I will continue to use YouTube. (Again, a comfort zone for the technologically challenged.)

Thank you for your prayers! I will continue to post videos and occasionally blogs and to keep sharing God’s Word. You can help me spread the news by sharing this post.

Blessings on all of you! Les”

Let’s inundate YouTube with how we think this doesn’t violate their policy but does violate our country’s Law.
