Venezuela is a Gun Free Zone

In 2012, private ownership of guns was taken away.

Government officials insisted they “Must do more” to curb gun violence and murder.

Under the law, only the army, police and certain groups like security companies are able to buy arms from the state-owned weapons manufacturer and importer.

Venezuela saw more than 18,000 murders in 2011, so that made the argument more convincing.  It is worth noting that AFTER the removal of private gun ownership, murder numbers actually rose.  In 2015 there were nearly 28,000 murders, on the way to double that of 2011.

A fast-forward to 2019 sees Venezuela in turmoil, with government troupes firing on civilians and preventing humanitarian aid from entering the country to help starving citizens.

America, what part of the 2nd Amendment do you NOT understand???

“… being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

There is much to be learned from Venezuela.  The price tag of Socialism in very high.  The price of banning gun ownership is even higher.

Make no mistake, Socialism, regardless of how it is packaged, results in the loss of freedom.  Venezuela is a good poster child.

God, help us preserve our freedom.

Why must you be sooo extreme? I own a rifle and 2 hand guns, I hunt and enjoy practice shooting, but I also know that background checks are a common sense, basic safety step. And no one can justify a need for a semi-automatic or fully automatic weapon, any more then they can justify the need for RPG’s or land mines (great for big game on game trails, btw).
NOBODY is trying to take away your guns, we are just trying to place logical limits as to who can buy them and what can be purchased. If you became a bit more reasonable about what over 90% of Americans would like regarding gun ownership you would find you have much, much more support, and you wouldn’t look like “radical gun fanatics”

If believing “shall not be infringed” means what it says, makes me soooo extreme, then I am guilty as charged. 🙂
