Fake Meat

Are you kidding me?

Obviously not.

I would have never believed that in my lifetime I would see ‘manufactured meat’.  The times, they are-a-changing.

Still, I am not personally ready to eat a test tube hamburger.  I think it sounds disgusting.  Call me old fashioned.  There is something about pasture raised beef that is not likely to be replaced by a product grown in a laboratory.  It almost looks like beef.  I suppose they can add a little more color to it if it isn’t quite red enough to be appetizing.

There will, no doubt, be a market for this new imitation meat.  Without disparaging the class of people who will embrace this kind of ‘food’, I will just say… good luck!  Some things created by God can not be duplicated by man.  Beef is one of those things.  I can say without doubt that I will die, never having tasted this ‘fake meat’.

To be fair, I will admit that we raise cattle.  Beautiful Texas Longhorn cattle.  They have amazing horns and wonderful color.  They also have good old American red meat.  Lots of it.  I love it.  So does everyone who has tried it.  Before you launch into the world of pretend meat, you might want to try some of our grass fed, lean Longhorn beef.

Right now, I think I will calm down and go grill myself a burger.

A REAL one.
