The Three “P’s” of Politics

Party, Personality and Policy.

There might even be a fourth “P”… Priority.

So, what’s yours? My priority places Policy first. You could use another “P” to describe Policy… Principle. I think Principle lies at the root of all the political discussion. Some would go so far as to call it “good vs evil”.

Some Party loyalists will sacrifice anything (including principle) for the Party. Common sense doesn’t sway them. Right vs wrong doesn’t phase them. Their focus is another “P”… Power. It is their god. Nothing comes before it.

Personality should probably be the least important of all, but it is the guiding light for some voters. If the candidate is likable enough, charismatic enough or pretty enough, that’s all it takes. These voters don’t have the intellectual capacity and/or the inclination to dig deeper.

It’s hard to say where the “P’s” could end, if we spent enough time on it.

Another comes to mind when I think about President Trump. Provocative.

Then, still one more…

Productive. For the good of America.
