Politics at its lowest.
Republican Legislators are saying that their leaders have told them to “kill Nelson’s bills”. Representative Stace Nelson is a conservative Legislator who has received high marks on statewide report cards. Republican leaders have not scored well on these report cards.
I must say that in the years I served I certainly never saw this game played out to this extreme, but for those of you who may not be familiar with how this game works, here is the drill: Leadership puts a bullseye on a Legislator and then tells the caucus not to let this Legislator have any victory, irrespective of the merits of the bill. Then, leadership will take turns “voting for” the selected Legislator’s bills. They know the vote count, so they are assured of the failure while providing “cover” as they take turns voting for bills they have determined to kill.
It’s a shell game designed to destroy the targeted Legislators effectiveness, disregard the merits of his bills and provide “cover” for the leaders who are behind the scene directing the mission of destruction. Off microphone, Nelson, other conservative Legislators and their supporters are called F***ing idiots and pieces of sh** by this team of liberal Republicans. Not a friendly group.
Representative Stace Nelson had three bills before committee on Friday. All of them were KILLED.
Coincidence? Bad bills? Examine the merits, and the votes. Then draw your own conclusion.
HB1142 a bill to “protect the access of legislators to staff services and the maintenance of appropriate legislative confidentiality” KILLED IN COMMITTEE… (a yes vote is a vote to kill the bill) SEE VOTES HERE.
HB1141 a bill to “require that the Legislative Research Council’s internet site include a listing of votes cast by individual legislators.” KILLED IN COMMITTEE… (a yes vote is a vote to kill the bill) SEE VOTES HERE.
HB 1140 a bill to “require that all recorded votes of the Legislature be displayed on the Legislative Research Council’s internet site.” KILLED IN COMMITTEE… (a yes vote is a vote to kill the bill. an “excused” allows a Legislator cover from a recorded vote) SEE VOTES HERE.
So, were these bad bills? Hardly!! Was the killing of these bills just “coincidence? Hardly!! Are there some Legislators who need to be replaced??? You decide!!
If you think there should be some NEW conservative Christian leaders in the Republican party, then you might want to join the team of people preparing to challenge some of these moderate/liberal Republicans. You can also make a difference by writing a check to help those who are planning to run for office.
