The EB5 scandal is, once again, raising its ugly head.
But really, will it compel US Senator Mike Rounds to resign from office? It might sound like a fantasy from the left, but it wouldn’t be the first time a prominent South Dakota politician has been forced from office.
The Rounds-Daugaard administration was up to its eyeballs in the EB5 program. Now, with news that the Federal government is kicking South Dakota out of the program due to corruption, questions are again being raised about the role these two Governors played in this multi-faced scandal.
A liberal blog published this report yesterday…
“Expect an announcement from the office of the US Attorney for the District of South Dakota that an indictment of Rounds is being prepared and Randy Seiler to announce Joop Bollen has been offered immunity from federal prosecution.”
The reporter alleges that he has information from a source close to the Rounds family that says the Senator is discussing a possible resignation from office.
There are plenty of scandals to go around, from within and without the EB5 program. The recent deaths of a man and his entire family in Platte, SD, apparently tied to a multi-million dollar State contract, have unsettling similarities to the EB5 scandal. Channeling government funds to people and organizations who are well “connected” is the way the game is played in South Dakota. While Governor Dennis Duagaard was Lt. Governor for Rounds, millions of dollars were paid to the organization that Duagaard led. Duagaard was the paid Executive Director of the Black Hills Childrens Home Society at the same time he was collecting a salary as Lt Governor, and the BHCHS received millions in State funds.
Whether Rounds (and perhaps others) will be indicted remains to be seen. Time will tell. In the meantime, the stage is set for a political explosion. As further investigation continues into the corruption of this crony capitalism in South Dakota, it may finally expose what many have been suspecting.
SOMEONE has a lot of explaining to do.

In my opinion, NO ONE should get full immunity from this scandal! Joop is in this just as deep as Rounds and Daugaard. This has went on to long. There should also be a new election. Daugaard NOR HIS CRONIES should be allowed to appoint one of their buddies. Any monies found (even in foreign accounts these people may have) should be returned! Birds of a feather…..

Frankly, I would be beyond stunned if Rounds resigned over this. He and his fellow fake “Republican” scumbag friends are far too arrogant to even consider doing the right thing–even late in the corruption game like this. They figure circling the wagon and pretending reality doesn’t apply to them (they’ve learned very well from the liberal Democrats they emulate) will carry the day–and in a widespread culture of corruption, it often does.
Still, sooner or later, God always balances the books.
