Veterans Make the Best Employees, Not College Grads

hire veteransThose who’ve visited military installations are almost always impressed by men and women on active duty.  They are well-dressed and conservatively groomed.  Discipline, politeness, and patriotism are obvious.  Expertise and professionalism couldn’t be better.

So why, then, aren’t veterans highly sought after first in the marketplace?  One answer has to do with fact that public media is in the hands of those who came of age during the anti-war Sixties.  The military is associated with promoting death and destruction, isn’t it?  Make love, not war.

So how do you discredit the military without out-and-out name calling?  Today’s approach is to weaken their public images, while pretending to be highly supportive.  Public service ads focus on homeless veterans in need of crisis centers because they’re all potentially suicidal and suffering from PTSD (even if they never saw combat).

When they get to college, veterans apparently need special “learning assistance” centers to prevent failing.  It’s called killing with kindness.  Even “advocates” don’t understand how much such “help” actually demeans.

Next walk by any college dorm, anywhere in America, to notice how much studying is going on.  Then check to see if your grandkids carry pocketbooks these days to read during quiet times.

Sure, it’s good that elderly and disabled veterans are honored, but why almost exclusively so?  As has been asked, don’t veterans tend to make better employees than students?  Visit any aircraft carrier to see how discipline and technical expertise come together.
