South Dakota Needs A Conservative Governor

Candidates are lining up to run for Governor in 2016.

Unfortunately, they are all establishment Republicans.  More of the same.

Governor Dennis Daugaard ran as a conservative.  He has governed quite differently.  When he made across the board cuts in his first year he was heralded by misguided conservatives as being perhaps “the most conservative Governor in South Dakota history”.  Hardly.

During his “conservative” tenure as Governor taxes have been increased by hundreds of millions of dollars by the “Republican” majority.  Daugaards refusal to reject Obama’s un-vetted Syrian refugees betrayed his less-than-conservative approach to keeping South Dakota a safe place.  A deeper look unveiled the suspicious campaign contribution connections that may have molded his co-operation with Obama.dream builders

Under Daugaard’s direction, the state has spent $600,000 per year to promote Common Core.  Hardly a conservative position.

There are plenty of examples of Governor Daugaards’s departure from conservative principlesIn a report by the CATO Institue, Daugaard scored among the WORST in the entire nation on conservative issues.  An early evaluation by a Republican Party  Official  also gave Daugaard a firm rebuke.  That same Official accused Daugaard of not being honest on a number of issues.

Daugaard, along with his predecessor, Mike Rounds, is up to his eyeballs in promoting ObamaCare, crony capitalism and the EB5 scandal.

There is more, but haven’t you already had enough?  Do you really want another Governor in the “conservative” mold of Dennis Daugaard and Mike Rounds?  I didn’t think so.  So far, the only candidates waiting in line would simply be more of the same with a new face.  2016 isn’t that far away.  South Dakota will elect a new Governor.  I am hoping it won’t be another establishment Republican.

South Dakota needs a conservative Governor… for a change.

editors note:  The Governors election will take place in 2018.  The candidates are lining up for 2016 when we expect to  begin hearing their announcements.
