… and the winner ISN”T…

Kasich, Christie, Carson and Bush.

The respective supporters of Cruz, Trump and Rubio will argue that their candidate won, but most of the chatter for the next week will give it to Cruz.  His response to Trump and the “citizenship” issue sealed the deal.  It was picture perfect.

I think Cruz had the best night at the debate, but I am not a Rubio fan, even though our lone South Dakota Congresswoman has endorsed him.  Trump is obviously still in the game, but the repeated “boos” from the audience reflects my view of him as well.

The others on the stage will likely stay in until after Iowa and New Hampshire, but my guess is that the only one who MIGHT survive that test would be Christie.  I’m not a fan of him either.

Huckabee, Santorum, and Fiorina and Paul were damaged significantly by being classified by Fox as 2nd tier candidates.

It would take something pretty spectacular at this point in the race to see more than 3 or 4 candidates surviving beyond Iowa and New Hampshire.

The debate produced some “wins”, but it was mostly about choosing the losers.
