When Christian Leaders Fail

The truth lives, even when leaders of the faith abandon it.

It is a very sad thing to see those who have led many to the faith, depart from it themselves.

Jerry Falwell Jr., leader of a ministry he inherited from Jerry Falwell Sr., said of Donald Trump, “Trump reminds me so much of my father.”  One would have to conclude he was certainly not referring to his Heavenly Father.  His endorsement of Trump left believers wondering how he could possibly support a man who represents a very different kingdom.

Pat Robertson welcomed Trump to Regent University by saying, “You inspire us all.”  Sorry, Reverend, not all of us.  Many of us believe Mr. Trump is the personification of everything we DON’T believe.  Hardly inspirational.

So what are committed Christians to do when leaders of their faith seek to take them in a direction that is contrary to the faith?  They are commanded to love and forgive.  They are also required to follow the real leader of the faith, Jesus the Christ.

Where leaders fail, we will not follow.
