What Does An $80,000.00 Longhorn Look Like?

The Legacy Longhorn Sale has become a tradition.

Yesterday’s sale results included the sale of this two year old longhorn heifer from the Craft Longhorn Ranch.  She sold for a cool $80,000.00.  She boasts a tip to tip horn measurement of 68 inches, with horn growth projection of 100 inches.  That’s enough to turn the heads of Longhorn enthusiasts everywhere.  Congratulations are in order for the Craft family for raising such a spectacular animal.

Lest you think that kind of sales price is something new in the Longhorn industry, you need to know that many other animals have sold for six figures.  The Legacy Sale is a two day sale.  It takes place this year at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Grapevine, Texas.  The sale begins with a black tie dinner, followed by a parade of Longhorn cattle into the sale ring located in the dining room.

The second day of this years sale takes place today.  It will, no doubt, see one or more females sell in the six figures.  If you would like a taste of the Legacy Sale, you can view the online catalog of animals here

The Legacy sale is one of many, many Longhorn sales around the country.  I can tell you from personal experience that it is an entertaining extravaganza that compels people to buy Longhorns.

WARNING:

It is important that you are cautioned prior to viewing the list of animals in this sale.  Raising Longhorn cattle can be addictive.  Exposure to these animals, and the people who raise them is contagious.  It regularly produces a fever, followed by uncontrollable raising of hands in the sale ring.

If you attend a Longhorn sale event, you better bring your trailer.

You can see the results of my Longhorn addiction on our website.  Just remember, you have been warned!
