Obama D.C.

It used to be called Washington D.C.

Apparently, that could change overnight without notice.

South Dakota’s Harney Peak was just “re-named” by a Federal board.  It is now officially named Black Elk Peak.  Will Washington D.C. be next?  Harney Peak was named after Army General William S. Harney.  He apparently led soldiers in 1855 who killed Indians in Nebraska.

South Dakota Senator John Thune issued a statement that he is “surprised and upset” about the name change.  Governor Dennis Daugaard said it will create “unnecessary expense and confusion”.

Neither of them offered a hint that they would take any action to challenge or change this arbitrary move by the Federal government.

Political correctness has become the new, unwritten law of the land.  It is part of the effort by the left to re-write American history to suit their agenda and advance their purposes.  A better solution would have been to install an informational monument at Harney Peak that gave an (accurate) account of history.  Such a history lesson should include the speech in 1830 by President Andrew Jackson on “Indian removal”.  That won’t happen.  Jackson was a Democrat.  Some consider him the Father of the Democrat party.  You won’t see that information on a monument at Harney Peak.  It doesn’t fit the agenda.

Barack Obama promised to “Fundamentally change” America.  He continues to make good on that promise, in big and little ways.  Republican leaders have responded by being “surprised and upset” or expressing their concern about “unnecessary expense and confusion”, while doing little or nothing to change or challenge the actions.

Welcome to the new and improved (sarcasm) America.
