DEFENSE APPROPRIATION BILL FAILS

Praise God that the Defense Appropriations Bill failed on Tuesday in the U.S. Senate that would have approved open homosexuality in the military and taxpayer-funded abortions at U.S. Military installations. I pray that no further attempt will be made prior to the election on 11/2/2010 and that the makeup of Congress thereafter will prevent any further attempts to advance this agenda.

    Bob,
It is is who is using deception here, and fear. You present your word as that of God’s, and refuse to recognize anything but your own convictions. That is so unlike Christ and His teachings.

Jews, Muslims and Christians all worship the same God. That is a fact, the truth, and it is undeniable. Now, if you and others like you can ever get past that, perhaps we can all start working together in an effort to achieve God’s will, that all His people live together in peace. He does not want us to fight over how we worship Him.

You are incapable of correcting or judging anyone, so am I.

    • October 4, 2010 at 5:42 pm

I don’t present my word as the word of God; I present the Word of God as the Word of God. It’s right there, easy to see for anyone with eyes to see or ears to hear, which you have made obvious you do not.

The god of Islam is a false god who I strongly suspect was modeled after the Father of Lies; the description of Allah closely matches that of Satan.

Again, I do not judge you, but God has judged your actions, and that is clear to see.

        Bob,
You can deny reality if you like, but the God of Abraham is worshipped by Jews, Muslims and Christians alike. The imperfections of man lead to the disagreement. Muslims and Christians branched off of the Jewish trunk, each creating fragile branches, going their separate ways. I believe God wanted us all to stay beneath Him, and that one day we will all be united, with the arrival of the Messiah.

  8. October 4, 2010 at 7:10 am

Ah, no, you simply don’t have the eyes or ears with which to recognize truth when it is right in front of your nose.

God has told us how he is to be worshiped. Read that worthless book called the Bible if you doubt me, and you will see that I am right–and I am right because the Bible is right.

Again, I must correct you: Abraham has nothing to do with the false religion of Islam, other than the fact that his disbelief led to the creation of the people who would someday embrace and propagate this false religion. Abraham would be appalled to see Satan glorified the way Islam glorifies the evil one. And yes, I call you a deceiver because you follow your father, the Father of Lies, when you propagate your lies and deceptions here.

    Bob,
When you use your Bible to attempt to prove something, it’s circular reasoning, and you usually do it out of context. Your reasoning and explanation for the thousands of denominations is vague and evasive. The answer is obvious. It’s because men, even Christians cannot agree on how to best worship God. That’s becasue there is no singular way, no only way. I knew you’d fall short attempting to explain this.

I think the Catholics are the truest Christians on earth. Theirs is the oldest form of Christianity, with thousands of years history and tradition. I agree with their assesment of the other denominations of Christianity, in that they have been perverted more than the Catholic religion.

The God of Abraham has made no apologies I’m aware of for any of the three religions He gave rise to. It is only mortal sinners like yourself who are prone to intolerance. Is this the part where you call me a “deceiver,” or maybe even “satan?”

  10. October 1, 2010 at 7:17 am

The “cornucopia” of denominations you see in Christianity stems from the fact that we are finite human beings with incomplete knowledge and understanding; we see truth and reality through a stained or warped glass (1 Cor 13:12).

We Christians differ on some important but lesser theological matters, but we all accept and defend the primary truths of the Gospel: that God created the universe and everything in it, that his standards are the only standards that matter, that Jesus Christ was his one and only son who lived a sinless life to stand in for sinful human beings and accept the punishment that we deserve, and that if we will repent of our sins and accept his mercy, he will make us justified in God’s eyes.

You should repent of your allegiance to the false religion of Islam and accept that truth.

    Bob,

When I think of cornucopia and religion I am immediately struck by the cornucopia of sects in the Christian religion. There are thousands, including Mormoms, Baptists, Lutherans, Jehovahs’ Witnesses, and Episcapalians to name a few. The oldest and most populated denomination, the Catholic Church, is by far the most influential and powerful group of Christians in the world. Their leader the Pope, and virtually every Pope before him has declared the Catholic Church as the only true church of Christ.

Where does that leave you and your brethren, dismissed by the most powerful and populated element of the Christian faith? Why would you think God somehow favors you over the obvious leader of the Christian world, and the millions in his flock?

God bless you man. I forgive you too, and hold no ill feelings towards you.

“You call me Teacher and Lord-and you are right, for that is what I am. So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have set you an example, that you should do as I have done.”

Hae you ever noticed evangelists and fundamentalists just can’t keep their noses out of other people’s business, or in this case blog posts? I can quickly find a direct quote from Jesus instructing you to do exactly that.

    • September 29, 2010 at 12:17 pm

Independent, have you ever noticed that proponents of evil just can’t keep from promoting that evil publicly, or from attempting to deceive others into believing evil isn’t evil (Isaiah 5:20)?

Perhaps you have never noticed Christ’s admonition to dispel falsehood and share his truth with those who are lost (Ezekiel 3:18, the Great Commission, etc). Well, no, I know for a fact you haven’t failed to notice that because I have, in obedience to God, made sure several times on this blog that you know about it.

You simply choose to ignore God. That’s no skin off my back, but it won’t be pretty when you have to account for it, standing before your Maker some day.

    Bob,
I know everything about both the situations you mentioned, trust me. One was improper, the deliquent taxes, while the other was proper, the arest and conviction of Mr. Howie’s family member. Do you support Catholic Priests who have been convicted of raping children Bob? Although no where near as despicable, Howie was clearly wrong in both instances, het you stand by him, while condemning me for writing a few words on a blog. How very un-Christ like.

My comments do nothing to further your evangelism and fundemantlist/minority postions or prove anything close to what you purport. You are not only losing the battle, you’ve already lost the war. God will deal with you someday, rest assured of that fact. The question is, are you ready? I don’t think so…….

    • September 29, 2010 at 12:13 pm

If you know everything about those situations and still feel the way you do, then apparently your loathing for conservatives, conservatism and authentic Christianity renders you incapable of seeing them in a fair light.

Howie was well aware that he was behind on those taxes due to the downturn of the market. The tax office was also aware of that, as they were of a great number of developers. They were also aware that Howie, like other developers in similar situations, was not trying to evade his responsibilities but was working toward meeting them, and they were gladly working with him.

The traffic stop of Mrs. Howie and subsequent arrest seems proper from what I understand. What seems improper, however, was the manner in which prosecution seems to have been pursued with exceptional zeal, as well as a false report concerning the nature of the charges. Cops (I used to be one) as well as the rest of the judicial system typically views driving under the influence of prescription drugs significantly different than driving under the influence of a recreational substance everyone knows will result in intoxication with more than just a very small level of intoxication. That view seems to have changed at the prosecutorial level when the case involved the wife of a conservative candidate, however.

I’m afraid it is you who is losing…and losing badly. God will indeed deal with us both someday; we will give account for everything we did on purpose and every idle word we uttered.

You would do well to accept that those found without the grace of Jesus Christ (which is awful hard to secure when one is engaged in accepting false gods of other religions) will receive an eternal judgment, and it won’t be pretty regardless of how much you try not to believe in it in this life.

Here’s a few facts for you Mr. Howie. You are every wealthy, you didn’t pay your taxes on time, and you were soundly defeated in the gubernatorial primary. You wrongly accused a very competent State’s Attorney of corruption for his correct legal actions against one of your family members.
And here’s another fact for you. Religion is about faith, not “facts.” Anyone who claims their faith is based on Facts” is either ignorant or disingenuous, or both.

    • September 28, 2010 at 6:05 pm

Sounds like you have a little Marxist class envy kicking in there, Independent.

If you bothered to find the facts of a matter or paid attention, you might know that, like so many other developers in our area and around the country, Mr. Howie’s business suffered a downturn as the economy tanked after the ill-conceived policies of liberals led to the financial meltdown in 2008. Like so many other developers, he was in contact with the tax office and they were working with him as they were other developers in similar situations where property was not selling in order to recoup expenditures.

Also, if you knew anything about the circumstances of that arrest and how similar situations are normally handled, this one had the distinct air of excess.

Finally, while faith is always necessary in any religion (any BELIEF, for that matter), anyone who minimizes the need for a religion to logically line up with the facts probably lacks a coherent religious belief. Your comments here in recent weeks provide a cornucopia of evidence which illustrates this.

Here’s a link to a compelling article about the recent reinstatment ordered by a Federal Judge of a lesbian Maj. in the U.S. Air Force. She had been discharged under the “don’t ask don’t tell” policy. She will be going back to her unit soon, to resume her proud and distinguished service to her country. The A.C.L.U. assisted Maj. Witt in winning her case against the Air Force. This is the second victory this month for military personnel who have been discharged under the “don’t ask don’t tell ” policy. In the other case a Federal Judge has ruled the “don’t ask don’t tell” policy is unconstitutional. The Judge is considering a ban on the policy altogether. If the armed services are forced to fight and lose every discharge processed under the “don’t ask don’t tell ” policy they will simply cease discharging gays from the military. So, in effect the policy will be reversed, and the GOP effort in blocking the proposed legislation to repeal the policy will be moot.
I look for the U.S. Supreme Court to once and for all declare the “don’t ask don’t tell ” policy unconstitutional in the near future.

    Ed,
“There is a long tradition of condemning homosexuality in Judeo-Christianity. The stricture was transferred from the Old Testament, since Jesus himself was silent on this issue. It isn’t possible to limit Jesus to the conventions of his time. For all that he respects those mores, he also criticizies them. The parable of the Good Samaritan seems particularly relevant here. A man lies injured in a ditch, and all the righteous people on the road ignore him, while only a Samaritan, coming from a despised class, offers to help. If fundamentalists want to take their cue from Jesus, this teaching demonstrates the he was on the side of the despised.
Espiscopalians have voted to allow gay men to become Bishops. Even if you cite the Old Testament as the foundation of your judgment and condemnation of homosexuals and focus on the sin, the point is moot, because Jesus came into the world to forgive all sins. At the Last Supper Jesus explicitly states that his blood is being spilled as a sign of a new covenant between man and God, and that this new agreement is the forgiveness of sin. We don’t need anyone’s guess that Jesus might or might not have condemned homosexuality. We know that thieves on either side of the cross were grave sinners, and yet Jesus offered them entry into the Kingdom of God without condemnation or approval. There is no litmus test for deserving God’s grace.”
