The Family Heritage Alliance held its first luncheon today at the Dove Christian Center in Rapid City and it was a resounding success. More than 200 attended the event and the focus of the Family Heritage Alliance was eloquently brought forth by Pastor Dale Bartscher. He explained that the mission of the Alliance is to champion ‘traditional family values’ throughout the state of South Dakota and beyond as it will:
Promote the existence, cohesion, and indispensable cultural influence of Pastors, Ministerial Associations and their Congregations;
- Build rapport with local, state and federal public-policy makers;
- Provide voter education and registration; and
- Work inclusively with all who cherish traditional family values.
For this first luncheon, both candidates for South Dakota’s at-large U.S. Congressional seat were invited to attend and speak. Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin, the Democratic incumbent, was unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts.
But the Republican candidate, Kristi Noem addressed the assembly and quickly captivated all as she described her family life in South Dakota. The little shy girl from Castlewood told of her recollections of life at home that seemed idyllic until the loss of her Dad to a farm accident and the remarkable resilience of a faithful family. She was frequently intrerrupted by applause as she spoke passionately of her commitment to family values and conservative principles. Her humility and sincerity were evident as she stepped from the podium to a standing ovation.
My words fail me as I try to convey the great feeling of fellowship and cameraderie that pervaded the Dove Christian Center today. It was truly a day to remember.
God Bless Pastor Dale Bartscher and the Family Heritage Alliance!!!
