Really, it’s much deeper than that.

When Sarah Huckabee Sanders was appointed Press Secretary I was skeptical.  I’ve never personally been a fan of her father, and I suspected this was nothing more than some kind of political payback.  I almost immediately changed my mind when I saw her performance in that position.  She is a very articulate and bright young woman.  Her grace and poise during the vicious attack at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner only further convinced me.

But the vile personal attack on Sanders is more than that.  It is symptomatic of a deeper problem.  I don’t like the uncivil discourse from the left, right, center… or any direction.  This demonstration by a Leftist “comedian”(?) shouldn’t surprise anyone.  It is a reflection of the political climate.  Mean and nasty.

When truth is rejected, so is decency.  I wrote about that nearly a year ago… “Can’t We All Just Get Along?”

We shouldn’t expect the atmosphere to change unless there is a mass transformation of our society and our leaders.  Hating the ideas and politics of others is one thing.  Hating the PEOPLE is quite another.

We would be well served to follow the commandment of God, to “Love our neighbor as ourselves”.

Good article Gordon. I rejected the idea of running against Jeff Partridge this year for somewhat the same reason. Partisans on the right wanted him out. I believe their intentions were good, to get a more conservative legislator for District 34. However, I was going to be the mudslinger and I just didn’t want to do it. I’m through with that kind of politics and hence ran for the open House seat. Good decision or bad will only be decided by the voters of District 34. I sincerely believe that Karma takes care of those who are doing things for the right and wrong reasons. That includes politicians who say one thing and do another.
