Made In China

It’s not just the Corona virus that comes from China.

While America slept, under previous political administrations (of both parties), China has become a powerful force in the global supply chain. So much so, that America is dangerously China-dependent on essentials like pharmaceuticals.

Even our food chain is impacted. Chinese owned processing facilities and other businesses should concern us. As part of our response/consequence to China for their role in the Corona Virus, we should consider divesting Chinese ownership of companies and property in America.

Fortunately for America, the Trump Administration is moving rapidly to encourage and promote manufacturing and production of pharmaceuticals in our own country.

If you take the time to look, you will be alarmed at how wide and deep the Made in China label runs in nearly every product sold in America. Many of them are a result of patents and trade secrets stolen by China. It would be bad enough if China were “competing” in the market place. They have actually maneuvered themselves into a position where they hold a monopoly on an astounding variety of products. As an example, I use electric fence in pasture management for my Longhorn cattle. A few days ago I purchased some step-in posts for the electric fence. The only ones available in the style I use were made in China.

My hope is that the Federal government and State governments begin to offer additional incentives for manufacturing plants that compete with products currently monopolized by China. In the meantime, where ever and when ever possible, consumers need to LOOK at where products are made.

Look… ask… and buy American made products.

Ever since Nixon’s visit to China in 1972, the media has gleefully fed us the image of a China, the big cuddly Panda. And through all the years since China has openly enslaved its citizens to provide whatever consumer goods the West has had an appetite for, not to mention an untold number of non-essential (junk) products China developed and convinced us we need. At least this “pandademic” has shown us the error of our ways. Now it’s up to us to own up to the fact that we daily benefit from slave labor and ween ourselves away from the stuff of China.
