Associate Professor of Political Science Joshua Wilson will discuss the Christian Right’s creation as both an identifiable political constituency and as a movement with distinct leaders and institutions. Wilson will explain how and why a comprehensive network of social and political institutions was built, as well as how these institutions reflect the movement’s history, internal conflicts and perceptions of the rest of the country.

Professor Joshua Wilson’s research concerns the varying abilities of political and social movements to use law — broadly defined — in the pursuit of political ends. He’s the author of two books on abortion politics and is the co-author of a forthcoming book on the Christian Right’s development of legal resources. His research has been discussed in The New York Times/Reuters, The Atlantic, NPR, US News & World Report and elsewhere. He has a PhD in Jurisprudence & Social Policy from the University of California, Berkeley and is currently the Editor in Chief for Law & Policy.
