Why Christians HAVE to Vote

Note that I did not title this “Why Christians SHOULD  vote.

It should be apparent to every Christian that the moral fabric of this country has taken a dive. We have an obligation to take a stand for our values. We are called to be citizens of heaven (Phil. 3:20), and to be obedient to the Lord (Ex. 20:1-5). Our Lord has commanded us to be the “salt” of the earth and the “light” of the world (Matt. 5:13-16). This requires us to be engaged and involved with society, to include making informed decisions about public policy and in choosing our leaders.

Critical issues are being addressed every time an election process begins, to include the sanctity of human life from abortion issues, embryonic stem cell research, to care for the elderly. These matters are far too important to let someone else make the decisions. Get informed, plug into a Christian group that can educate you on the issues such as the Family Heritage Alliance or the Family Research Council and then get out and vote. But remember before you make that check mark … don’t  vote  your denomination, don’t vote your pocketbook, don’t vote your party – vote your values, convictions, and beliefs.

You guys really should spell out what you mean when you say “Christian.” It’s confusing because the word definitely has a unique definition among fundementalists. Fundementalists have a completely different concept of what a “Christian” is. In fact, you really should just substitute “fundementalist Christian” in place of “Christian,” because that’s what you really mean.

Break loose of the chains that bind you to semantics and labels. Use your talents and energies to love God and accept Jesus Christ into your heart……..fundamentally.

99.9% of all South Dakotans are Christians. Wouldn’t it be more accurate to say South Dakotans need to get out and vote, and drop the religious dogma?

I believe that Kris was offering a special invitation for Christians to vote.
